About the Fundamentals of LSL Learning Series

The Hearing First Fundamentals of Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) Learning Series provides 12 blended online learning experiences, each lasting four-weeks, sequenced to introduce learners to the Listening and Spoken Language Domains of Knowledge. All learning experiences are facilitated by highly qualified thought leaders in the LSL field including Dr. Jace Wolfe, Beth Walker Wooten, Sylvia Rotfleisch, Dr. Teresa Caraway, Tamara Elder, Sherri Fickenscher, Heather Grantham, Ellen Rhoades, Lindsay Hanna, Darcy Stowe, and Lindsay Zombek.

Series Learning Structure

The series covers the fundamentals of LSL and the 12 courses can be taken in any order. While courses follow a schedule, learners can start with any course that’s open for registration. When taken in succession, completing all 12 courses takes approximately 18 months. Learners must sign up for each course separately once registration for that course opens.

If you’re not already a member, sign up for either the Professional Learning Community or Family Support Community. All Hearing First learning experiences require membership before you can register for a course. It’s free, and a great way to connect with others on the LSL journey, ask questions, and more.

STEP TWORegister for Each Course

Once you’re a community member, you can register for any available learning experience for free! Check the catalog regularly to see when new courses are available for registration. Since this series is flexible for learners and rotates courses over 18 months, you’ll need to register for each course separately.

STEP THREEStart Learning

Once you register, you’ll have access to pre-learning discussions, video lectures, and materials prior to each 90-minute live session with the facilitator. Learners will receive a Certificate of Completion and professionals can earn CEUs from the AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language and/or the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).
